Science Technician

Permanent, Part time 0.6, (3 days to suit) Term-time only


Salary: £16,875 (pro rata) 

 

We are seeking to appoint an experienced and enthusiastic Science Technician to support the Science Department in their delivery of the GCSE Science.  The Science Department consists of four members of staff and the Science Technician will work alongside the Director of Science on a day-to-day basis to provide support to the team. 


The academy is looking for someone who has:


• A strong work ethic and a passion for Science;

• The ability to conduct tasks quickly with a keen eye for detail;

• Experience of setting up equipment in a laboratory environment for practical lessons;

• An excellent record of attendance and punctuality.


NB: Previous experience of working in a school laboratory would be advantageous but not essential.


Your responsibilities will involve:


• Preparation of materials for science lessons and equipment for practical sessions;

• Maintenance of science equipment;

• Storage and disposal of chemicals and resources (in line with Health & Safety regulations)

• Maintaining a safe and organised prep room;

• Assisting with demonstrations in conjunction with science teachers;

BOA Creative, Digital and Performing Arts Academy is a state-funded, high-performing 14 to 19 academy specialising in creative, digital and performing arts. The brand-new landmark building, located at the hub of the digital and creative industries in the West Midlands, opened September 2011. It has superb facilities for academic, vocational and extra-curricular activities. BOA is 100% selective, based on aptitude, and as a result, it is unique in its admissions criteria.

Whilst students have talent in their chosen pathway subjects, there is a full range of academic ability. Alongside their vocational courses, students in Year 10 and 11 study an additional eight GCSE’s including English, Maths and Science. In Year 12 and 13 students can opt to study one or two additional A Levels.
