Ruislip High School is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly effective individual to join our flourishing science department. The successful applicant will be part of a team of technicians who service the science, art, craft and design and also food and nutrition departments and the flexibility to cover the other faculties if required would be desirable.

The duties of the role include the preparation of materials, equipment and chemicals for lessons, caring for plants and animals, ensuring the clearing and cleaning of laboratories, as well as art, craft and design and food and nutrition rooms as appropriate.  Other duties will include advising on the stock of materials and undertaking inventory checks. The role will also include working alongside teachers to aid student progress.

This is a varied role and would suit someone who is looking to develop their career as a technician, no prior laboratory experience is necessary.

The successful applicant will need:

  • to be resourceful and enthusiastic;
  • to be able to work as part of a team and enjoy working with students and teaching professionals;
  • to be able to demonstrate flexibility;
  • to have energy, stamina and a sense of humour.

Ruislip High School, based in Middlesex, is a secondary academy for girls and boys between the ages of 11 and 18. Currently there are 1300 students enrolled at the school, located in Hillingdon. It opened in 2006 and was converted to academy status in on April 1, 2014.
