Required for 40 hours per week, 40 weeks per year.
Following the promotion of our current technician, we would like to appoint a well-qualified individual with interest in science and learning to join our vibrant science department. The role involves providing support to our laboratory and classroom functions across science at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5. The successful applicant will require a range of characteristics, including the desire to work with teenagers and the ability to work with initiative and autonomy to aid the preparation and delivery of practical classroom lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The role includes Health and Safety responsibilities. The successful applicant will be an integral part of the department with further development opportunities for the person with the right skills and attitude. A ‘can do’ attitude is important along with a willingness to aid teaching and learning and support positive relationships within the department.
Experience within an educational environment will be advantageous but not essential. Excellent practical skills and the ability to engage professionally with colleagues and students are key skills. The post may be offered to cover 40 weeks per year with additional holiday hours to suit the Head of Department.
