The Altius Trust is an ambitious and growing Academy Trust which currently operates two secondary schools, Manchester Enterprise Academy in Wythenshawe, and MEA Central, which opened in September 2017.

Manchester Enterprise Academy is a thriving 11-18 Academy that is recognised as a centre of excellence in supporting students to achieve outstanding results. In 2015 we were announced as winner of ‘Secondary School of the Year’ at the MEN School Awards with the Academy’s success being recognised both locally and nationally, including the Prime Minister highlighting our achievement in his August 2015 speech. The personal development of students is a strength of the Academy with SMSC provision judged as ‘outstanding’ during our most recent Ofsted Inspection.

Due to our outstanding reputation, excellent results and rapid growth in student numbers, our flagship school, Manchester Enterprise Academy recently extended and now offers our students a £11.6 million state of the art campus.

In September 2017, in partnership with Manchester City Council, we also opened our brand new Academy, MEA Central, proudly serving the Manchester communities of Rusholme, Withington, Fallowfield and Levenshulme. The purpose built brand new Academy has been designed to facilitate excellent teaching and learning and also provide fantastic facilities in the arts, sport and digital learning.

The Altius Trust is committed to recruiting talented and passionate staff who are central to all of our achievements and are the driving force behind our dedication to provide a “Fantastic Future for All”.  Ofsted stated that “Staff are extremely positive about all aspects of the school and are making a substantial difference to the lives of the young people.” We work incredibly hard to attract the best teachers and our teacher training provision is graded “outstanding” by Manchester University. We believe that our teachers’ expertise should inspire our students by allowing them to shape and craft exciting learning experiences.

We take professional development of our staff very seriously and are committed to providing high quality support, training and opportunities for your professional development.  As strategic partners of Teach Manchester, Manchester Schools’ Alliance Teaching School we are able to provide unique leadership opportunities for our students and staff. The opportunity for learning and development for both teaching and support staff are such that there has never been a more exciting time to join our fantastic schools.

In order to deliver our vision of a fantastic future for all our students, it is important that they achieve the best academic results possible. Our vision of a “Fantastic Future for All Our Students” is easy to understand, but complex to achieve, as the future evolves so rapidly around us. Students have to adapt in order to build themselves a secure and resilient future. We focus relentlessly on the MEA Way, of Safe, Respectful and Ready. The business partners who lead the Trust help us to complement academic achievement with the other skills that employers demand of their staff. Enterprising, entrepreneurial and networking skills, team working, presenting information and project management are all part of our Fantastic Futures curriculum and, allied to our Pastoral Pledges and aligned to our outstanding Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC) provision.

We work incredibly hard to attract the best teachers and our teacher training provision is graded outstanding by Manchester University. We believe that our teachers’ expertise needs to inspire our students by allowing them to shape and craft exciting learning experiences. Our teaching model emphasises excellent classroom dynamics between staff and students. Exams are a serious business, learning is an emotional journey – students who enjoy learning perform far better than those who are uninspired.

MEA has been graded as 'Good' by Ofsted following the 2021 inspection,

'Staff have high expectations for all pupils.'

'Teachers know their subjects well' and pupils 'are keen to learn' and 'behave well in lessons.'

‘Pupils from all backgrounds are well supported to gain the resilience and knowledge that they need for a positive future.’ Ofsted 2021
