About the role

Give indirect or direct support to teachers delivering the National Curriculum. The overall aim is to participate in raising and maintaining standards of education for students.

Preparation of materials for practical lessons within the department

Preparation of chemical solutions, biological specimens etc.

Supervise the set-up, test and preparation of apparatus, equipment, machinery, chemicals and/or materials following statutory health and safety requirements to support specific learning requirements within the delivery of the curriculum

Assist or participate in the delivery of a wider, more demanding or specialist range of learning activities, as specified and planned by teaching staff, to maintain the required standards of curriculum delivery

Supervise and guide others (including non-specialist teachers) in the operation of all equipment/machinery in the subject area, ensuring that operation is within statutory health and safety standards to fulfil the required standards of service delivery

37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year, term time only.

Who we are looking for

A good standard of education, including literacy and numeracy

GCSEs or equivalent in Sciences and Maths

Someone who has experience in this role and can demonstrate enthusiasm with capability and ability to learn.

Good communication skills

Well organised and capable of organising equipment etc.

Ability to relate well to a wide range of people within the Academy’s community

Cheerful disposition with a good sense of humour

Ability to prioritise jobs

Ability to work cooperatively within a small team

About Havelock Academy

Located in the town of Grimsby, Lincolnshire, Havelock Academy is a co-educational secondary school. Havelock has around 1000 pupils aged 11-18, making it slightly larger than the average secondary school. The school has an economically diverse catchment area, a fact reflected in its student intake. Originally known as Havelock school, it was established in the 1960s, adopting its current name in 2007 upon its conversion to an academy. The school is part of the David Ross Education Trust, a multi-academy trust responsible for a large number of schools across the Midlands and the north of England.
