Job overview

NJC Grade 2 Point 4-6 £18,933 - £19,698 FTE (salary will be pro rata’d)

Full Time (36.66 hrs p/week), Term Time only

We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Science Technician to join our successful team delivering high quality support to the science department.  The successful candidate should have excellent interpersonal skills, be efficient and organised, with a sound knowledge base including the safe use and storage of equipment and chemicals.  Ideally you will have experience in a laboratory or similar environment. If you are passionate about science, enjoy working in a busy role, then we would love to hear from you.

Experience of working in a school setting and a First Aid qualification would be an advantage though not essential.  A willingness to undertake training is essential for applicants without prior laboratory experience.

The Blue Coat School is part of the Cranmer Education Trust, a growing community of multi faith, multi-talented schools across North East Manchester. St Anne’s Academy joined the Trust in March 2021 and we are looking forward to opening The Brian Clarke Church of England Academy in September 2022. Mayfield Primary School and East Crompton St George’s Primary School are both also part of the Cranmer Education Trust, and Blue Coat is also the lead school of the East Manchester Teaching School Hub.

We work collaboratively, share good practice and have a Trust-wide approach to development. All schools are partners in Manchester Nexus, our SCITT, which operates out of Blue Coat. All schools bring their expertise to share. We need to make sure we have the right people in the right place doing the job that is needed to build excellent provision for our children and young people. Staff are supported and developed professionally to make sure they can do that and are valued and recognised for their work.

We offer:

• Opportunities for professional development in a growing Trust

• LGPS career average pension scheme including life insurance and dependent's pension

• Generous holiday entitlement and sick pay scheme, increasing with length of service

• A town centre location with motorway networks, buses and trams close by.

This post is subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check.

Closing date for applications: Monday 18th October 2021 at 9am

About The Blue Coat CofE School

Welcome to The Blue Coat School

Mission statement:  Faith – Vision – Nurture

Welcome to The Blue Coat School website, which we hope will give you a really good insight into our school, and show how our young people are learning how to become everything they can be, and are meant to be.  You will find all the information about student achievement and progress across the curriculum, and links to national performance data and reports, so you can see how well our young people do, and why we are very proud of our academic record.  Just as important, you’ll also find, in the newsletters especially, a picture of life in a dynamic community where students grow in confidence, independence, leadership and resilience, not only in their lessons, but in the breadth of Blue Coat’s provision.  I hope you will also see how the school’s Christian ethos shines through, and that all our young people, of all faiths and denominations, learn to grow together in love, compassion, generosity of spirit, and mutual respect.  If you are an education professional, or would like to join this great profession, you’ll also find links to our work as a National Teaching School and lead school of The Northern Alliance and our work on system leadership, school-to-school support, research and development, and training the best teachers through the School Direct programme.  We look forward to meeting you.

Mr R Higgins
