30 hours per week, Permanent, Term Time Only
NJC Grade 5 £18,795 - £19,554 per annum pro rata
(Actual salary in the region of £12,692 - £13,205)
Faringdon Community College are looking for a Science Technician (Physics) to join the existing team of five technicians, to support our Science teaching and learning across the School.
We have 12 labs split across two buildings, from which all three sciences are taught to all students in KS3 (Years 7 to 9). As GCSE and A level teaching concentrates on subjects, we are ideally looking for somebody with a particular interest in physics.
This is a busy department, where this active role involves getting materials and equipment ready for lessons (ranging from making up solutions, counting out books, photocopying), in addition to cleaning and sorting equipment after lessons.
Although basic scientific knowledge (particularly physics), and experience in laboratory work would be useful, they are not essential as training will be given. We are looking for somebody who can work well in a team, organise their time appropriately, and work flexibly and independently as required by the department in meeting demands.
Applicants should be able to communicate well verbally and have a good standard of numeracy and literacy (GCSE grade A – C or equivalent).
A visit to the school before the interview date would be most welcome.
Faringdon Academy of Schools is committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children. Successful candidates will be required to undertake a DBS check and safeguarding training as part of their job role.
