The Science Department at the academy is both supportive of its staff and ensures that students make excellent progress. There are a variety of different opportunities and responsibilities within the department to help with your continuing professional development, including becoming a form tutor. The students undertake a 3 year KS4 programme of study, within this students must complete Required Practical activities as part of their GCSE. It is paramount that these practicals are developed and fine tuned in order to ensure the best learning experience for our young people. 

The successful candidate will:

  • Be an enthusiastic Science Technician to support and further develop the work in the Science Department
  • Be a self-motivated person
  • Work as part of a very strong team and be expected to play a full role
  • Be well organised and hardworking
  • Be committed to high standards and have a flexible approach to work
  • Have the ability to support and communicate effectively with students and staff 
  • Desirably have the ability to cope with challenging situations
  • Passionate about making a difference to the lives of young people
  • Preferably have experience of working in a school or laboratory environment 
  • Able to work independently and anticipate needs

The St Lawrence Academy is a thriving Church Academy that has successfully served its local community since opening in 2008 and provides children with fantastic opportunities for personal and spiritual growth. The St Lawrence is an-oversubscribed academy for 11-16 year old students of all abilities. Our PAN now stands at 165. We currently have a roll of 810.
