SCIENCE TECHNICIAN

Salary: Grade 3 SCP 17 - £17,49.56 per annum (FTE - £20,092)

Hours of Work: 37 hours per week, 40 weeks* per year**

*40 weeks per year allows for Term Time, PD Days plus a further 1 week per year to be worked during school holidays on agreed days

We are looking to appoint a permanent Technician to join our vibrant and driven Science Faculty. Practical work brings science to life and allows the students to get a hands on experience of scientific concepts and is a key aspect of teaching and learning within the Science Faculty.

Experience of working in a laboratory setting and/or in an educational setting is essential, along with a relevant science qualification. The right candidate will be given support and training to ensure they are able to fulfil the role of Science Technician. 

It is essential that the successful candidate will be a team-player, have a calm and organised personality, a flexible approach and have the ability to cope with a wide range of tasks. They will need to have good communication skills and be prepared to talk to students, teachers and colleagues, providing accurate information at all times.. 

The successful applicant would benefit from a knowledge of using Microsoft products and have English and Maths GCSE Grade C or above

This allows us to award QTS and also QTS + PGCE Programmes within both Primary and Secondary schools. We welcomed our first group of trainees in September 2021.

Farlingaye was graded Outstanding in two areas: Personal Development and Sixth-Form Provision

"Pupils feel safe and say they are happy.  Everyone feels accepted and welcomed.  Pupils behave positively.  They are lively, confident, enthusiastic and kind.  Pupils know that teachers are very proud of them and their achievements. Leaders have constructed a broad and ambitious curriculum for all pupils. Leaders make sure that pupils' needs are identified quickly. Teaching in sixth form is highly effective.  Leaders work to promote pupils' personal development is exceptional. Pupils, including those with SEND participate in a range of clubs and out of school activities involving the arts, drama and sport.  Sixth form students are wonderful ambassadors for the school.  Teachers provide high quality  advice around careers and next steps."
