Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic science technician to support our team of teachers and technicians in the department.

Your opportunity:

Working under the supervision of senior technician to provide assistance in the preparation of resources for practical classes, your duties will include:

  • preparation of resources, including assembling apparatus
  • ensuring safe storage and transit of resources,
  • stock taking, ordering resources
  • maintaining a healthy, safe and productive environment in the Academy’s prep room and laboratories.
  • record keeping

What we are looking for:

Candidates should be energetic, excellent team players, keen to learn, and able to work under pressure and to deadlines. Ideally, you should have experience of practical science desirable. All applicants must be committed to contributing towards the aims and values of the academy. You will need:

  • Experience or solid understanding of the role of a technician in a school
  • A Level qualifications (or equivalent) in either physics, chemistry or biology
  • An effective spoken and written communicator, with excellent organisational and planning skills

Harris Academy Falconwood is an 11-18 co-educational academy for 1,100 students. The academy opened in September 2008 on the site of the predecessor school. Harris Falconwood benefits from a brand new, state of the art £25 million building offering the very latest facilities and equipment. Ofsted judged the academy to be Outstanding at both its inspections in 2011 and 2014.
