Tower Hamlets College and Hackney Community College merged on 1 August 2016 to create a dynamic and confident FE provider serving east and central London. Both colleges are Ofsted grade 2 and the combined college will be financially secure with total income in excess of £40m. Serving diverse London boroughs the merged College is uniquely located in the heart of an exciting region.

Our science department was graded Good by Ofsted. We offer a wide range of science courses for adults and young people including GCSE and Access courses for adults, and A level Physics, Biology and Chemistry.

Science Technician (Ref: 2916)
£7,437 per annum (£21,876 FTE)
0.34 FTE - 2 days per week 39 weeks per year

We are looking for a technically qualified and experienced person to provide an effective and efficient technical service to science teaching.
You will prepare apparatus, materials and solutions and set up and check equipment and apparatus for use in practical classes, assessment and exams. You need to be a team player, well organised, capable of multi-tasking and possess a full range of science technician skills. Good chemistry knowledge would be preferred.

The Science Department is accommodated in facilities including six laboratories, two preparation rooms and a learning centre. Our students are a balance of young people and adults studying GCSE, AS and A2 Science subjects, and vocational, cross disciplinary, applied science courses at levels 1, 2 and 3, including Access to HE courses. Results at all levels are good.  We have an excellent record of preparing students for scientific and medical careers.  The technician support provided by for the practical element of courses is good (Ofsted, May 2012).
