Job overview

Holy Family is a successful and happy school which has recently undergone a multi-million pound investment programme to enable us to expand and educate more students.

We are seeking to appoint a second in charge to join our highly successful Design Technology department. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in teaching Food Technology or Catering or Textiles or Resistant Materials and will be willing to learn how to teach other subjects that are delivered at Holy Family under the DT umbrella.

Holy Family is a successful, very well-regarded secondary school. 61% of students secured a GCSE grade of 4 or above in both English and Maths in 2018, whilst we have a 3 year trend of ‘red’ ALPS Grade 3 at A Level and the best value added for KS5 progress across the Diocese and the borough for our vocational outcomes. Students have access to an extensive extra-curricular programme which all staff are encouraged to participate in.

Every member of the teaching staff is provided with an iPad to support and enhance teaching and learning and access to excellent programmes of professional development, which earned the school the Gold Investors in People award in March 2016. We have an excellent record of internal career progression and promotion for our staff. Holy Family is a very friendly and supportive Catholic school with an inclusive ethos. In 2018, Ofsted described us as a good school in which “leaders are focused on achieving positive outcomes for students and have high aspirations for them”. We are also a school which has “effective strategies, valued by staff, to support staff well-being”.
