Job overview

Tes is supporting the appointment of a Second in Charge of Computer Science to join a School based in Croydon.

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and innovative Computer Science teacher to take on the role as Second in Charge in a popular and growing department, ensuring the School's pupils are technologically engaged, real-world ready and prepared for the future.

With responsibility for Key Stage 3, the super-curricular offer and promoting the role of women in the Computing industry, you will provide an excellent education by teaching with expertise and enthusiasm, offering support to the learning of individual students and contributing to the school’s pastoral system.

You will have the opportunity to build upon the considerable work already untaken by the department to ensure that their technology offer engages ‘every girl, every day’ and enables pupils to embrace emerging and disruptive technologies.

Computer Science at the School

You will be joining a department that is well-equipped and uses an extensive range of software and hardware platforms to support teaching and learning. Computer Science is established as a popular and innovative subject across both the School's Senior and Junior Schools, housed in an Enterprise Technology Hub in Seniors, and a newly built Enterprise Technology Suite in Juniors. Pupil numbers are strong and exam results are excellent. Their pupils also enter a wide range of computer science competitions and events.

You will be a well-qualified graduate, with qualified teacher status and a proven track record of academic success within computer science. You should be willing to teach up to A Level and be able to use an appropriate range of teaching strategies and resources, including e-learning to meet the needs of all students.

Required competencies: Knowledge of robotics and emerging technologies is desirable. Familiarity with Python and/or other high-level language is essential.

Why this School?

Established in 1874, the School prides itself on its innovative approach and friendly atmosphere. The School is located in Selsdon, south of Croydon, on a beautiful campus.
