About Drapers’ Academy

Drapers’ Academy is a co-educational secondary school with sixth form, located in Romford, Essex, for students aged 11-19. Drapers’ Academy has a house system, which is an integral part of school life. Pupils and staff are assigned to a house when they join the academy, with younger siblings assigned to the same house as their brother or sister.
The school converted to academy status in September 2010 and specialises in maths and science.
Values and vision
Drapers’ Academy aims to deliver a personalised approach to learning, in order to promote enjoyment among pupils. The school encourages an ethos of personal responsibility and self-discipline. Teachers expect excellent behaviour, high levels of attendance and punctuality, and a natural and positive respect for others.
Drapers’ Academy intends to be recognised as a centre of excellence where learning is fun and high standards are achieved.

“The governors are well on the way to fulfilling their vision of creating an academy which makes a significant difference to the community it serves and to the opportunities for its students. The academy’s improvement is due to outstanding leadership and management. The Principal and senior team have developed highly effective methods for monitoring and raising the quality of teaching. Middle leaders have played an increasingly effective role in raising standards in most subjects … Students are taught well.
