Job overview

The role

Coleridge Community College is now recruiting for a Second in Charge of Maths for an April or September 2022 start. You will be assisting the Head of Department to lead a new department who are ambitious about delivering excellent teaching and learning and achieving the very best results for our students. This role could be the ideal next step in your career and an opportunity to support leading our department through the next stage of its development.

We are looking for the right person to join our team:  We believe that our most important purpose is to teach young people things they would not learn outside school which empower them.  We believe that ‘Knowledge Is Power’. We believe in teaching through explicit instruction (Rosenshine) and utilising TLAC 2.0 techniques.  We are unapologetically ambitious for every child, no matter what their background, prior attainment or needs. Our mission, therefore, is to bring out ‘the best in everyone’.  We also believe in ‘Education with Character’ – we want young people to look back on a schooling that has inspired and challenged them, given them wide opportunity and prepared them for the ups and downs of life.

The successful candidate for the role will be a highly effective maths teacher, with an excellent track record who is ready to take the next step in their career.  This role will enable you to experience key aspects of departmental leadership; take on key responsibilities; support staff in developing teaching and learning and support the Head of Department in their strategic development of the department.

You will be joining a school that is ambitious for its future as well as the future of all its students.  We are looking for colleagues who share that ambition and are uncompromising in their commitment to doing what it takes to secure the potential of the young people here.  The right candidates will be aligned to our vision (to be a great school in everything that we do) and passionate about our values: we are ambitious; we are caring; we have integrity; we contribute.
