Ash Hill Academy are looking to appoint a Second in Department in English to job our academy in September 2020. The role of Second in Department will involve co-leading your subject area to ensure outstanding outcomes for students. This includes learning and teaching, curriculum provision, standard of attainment and behaviour and safety within the curriculum area. As Second in Department you will work collaboratively with the Head of Department to provide a vision for developing English across the curriculum. You will provide highly engaging, relevant and innovative learning opportunities at all key stages to ensure students make exceptional progress in your subject and are provided with the skills they need to be successful in both the academy and their future lives. You will demonstrate outstanding learning and teaching in these areas, both in your own practice and leadership of others.

Salary:  MPR / UPR plus an additional TLR2B payment

 Hours: full time / permanent

Ash Hill is a challenging yet extremely rewarding school on the move! Situated just off the M18, the school is ideally located for travel from Leeds, Sheffield, Doncaster, Goole and Scunthorpe.  Currently, results are on a 3 year upward trend, student numbers are on a 3 year upward trend and parental buy-in is the best it has ever been!  Staff morale is high (ask them), staff CPD is targeted to meet the academy’s needs whilst catering for teacher professional development – we finance a variety of NPQ’s and support both external and internal sessions. Two hours per week is given to every teacher as a minimum. As part of a trust, career opportunities and the sharing of best practice is widespread – support is always at hand. Currently Ash Hill is having a new 21st century school built to meet our growing needs; come for a visit and join us on our journey.

The latest Ofsted grading showed the school to have ‘Good’ leadership and management.

Ash Hill Academy is a secondary academy located in the village of Hatfield, South Yorkshire. We cater for mainstream students aged 11 to 16 and it has been sponsored by Delta Academies Trust since September 2011. The academy outlook is built upon effective partnerships between the academy, students, family and the community, from the point of admission, as well as work based learning.
