As a member of the STEM faculty, you will teach Science across key stage 3 and 4, and Physics to A-level, along with offering key stage 3 Maths or Computing. You will work with the Head of Physics to plan innovative and interesting lessons, aimed at inspiring our students to choose Physics and Engineering courses at university. You will bring an enthusiasm for practical Science in the fully-equipped labs, and assist in the development of non-specialist teachers. You will display a dedication to extra-curricular learning by leading STEM-based activities. The newly-built STEAM room at the Prep School provide a unique possibility for an ambitious candidate to apply their skills to a whole-school context. You will also get the opportunity to collaborate with the Director of STEM in running exhibitions, festivals and showcases.
We wish to appoint an individual who has high expectations of the knowledge and attitude of the students under their tutelage, who enjoys teaching and learning, and who has the ability to work as part of a team. The successful candidate will be able to plan differentiated lessons to stretch the learning of gifted students, whilst using data to identify where intervention strategies will be most important. You must be able to display excellent professional standards and be adaptable to the unique pressures of a small independent institution. The ability to teach Maths or Computing to GCSE would be desirable, but not essential, and a keenness to develop in this area would be highly beneficial.
