Job overview

Due to continued role growth, the Arbor School is seeking a passionate and inspired Secondary Art teacher to join our school in August 2020.

The successful candidate will support the delivery of Art throughout the school, although the final timetable and lesson allocation is somewhat negotiable. The successful candidate will also have the exciting opportunity to contribute to the design and final layout of our upper – secondary school, specifically the expressive and fine arts faculty. An exciting and unique feature of our school is the artist in residence programme, wherein we invite current practicing and well – known artists to inspire our students, staff and community, and to work with the students to bring art in various forms to life around the school. As the Secondary Art teacher, you would have the chance to use this resource to your advantage whilst crafting the secondary programme of study for our students. As a growing school, we prefer teachers who can offer additional expertise beyond their subject, therefore the successful candidate will illustrate how they can add value to subjects or areas beyond the teaching of Art specifically. This could include the ability to teach in an additional area of the school, a willingness to lead on a particular focus, or a commitment to supporting other departments.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team of an extraordinary ecological school in Dubai, based on the National Curriculum for England with a core philosophy centred upon ecoliteracy, sustainability and environmental justice. The facilities are truly unique, and include six biodomes, learning gardens, maker spaces and extensive provision for both sports and the arts. With easy access to our fabulous green spaces, creative and passionate teachers have the opportunity to craft fantastic learning experiences for our students.

We therefore invite applications from exceptionally hard working and motivated teachers, who are excited by the opportunity to take an important role in shaping a truly outstanding and unique education. We seek teachers who are passionate and curious, who can form excellent relationships with colleagues, parents and students, and value the wellbeing of their students above all else. Arbor teachers can expect to be part of the formative years of a unique school, crafting a bespoke and unique learning experience which believes in the power of inquiry to engage learners in authentic learning experiences, but balances this with a classroom and curriculum that is masterful in nature, rigorous in application and personalised in its delivery.

Please refer to the supporting documentation to gain an insight into what makes an Arbor Teacher. If you feel you meet the criteria for this exciting opportunity, we welcome your application.
