Aldar Academies are currently seeking an inspirational school leader to be our new Secondary Assistant Principal – Teaching & Learning at Al Mamoura Academy in Abu Dhabi commencing September 2019, or earlier by negotiation. 

Al Mamoura Academy is a mixed gender primary school and a girls only secondary school co-located in a brand new, state of the art building in the heart of Abu Dhabi. Al Mamoura Academy is a successful school founded on the firm foundations of Al Mushrif School, graded ‘Outstanding’ by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge.  Our vision is clear: we want every individual, regardless of their ability, interest or need to achieve their potential and grow into responsible young adults.

The successful candidate will combine an excellent track record of successful leadership experience, developed in the UK or internationally, with strong inter-personal skills and cultural awareness with the ability to inspire the Al Mamoura community and manage the demands and needs of all stakeholders. Exceptional communication skills combined with being a visible leader and ambassador for the school are central to this role.   The role requires strategic thinking with a firm grasp of how to ensure outstanding teaching and learning across all phases of the school. Candidates must be committed to working in partnership with the local community and developing ways to engage with parents and forge effective partnerships with them.

The successful candidate will be closely aligned with the core values and ethos of Aldar Academies and Al Mamoura Academy and possess a genuine understanding and appreciation of the values of the region. 

1. Academy Ethos

1.1 To fully support the Academy’s vision and values;

1.2 To ensure that Al Mamoura Academy’s and Aldar Education is always presented positively within and beyond the academy;

1.3 To carry out any duties as reasonably directed by the Principal;

1.4 To participate in the Academy’s policy of appraisal and demonstrate a commitment to your own professional development;

1.5 To support the Academy targets relating to behaviour and attendance;

1.6 To rigorously adhere to the Academy’s safeguarding procedures.

2. Support for Learning

2.1 To model outstanding teaching and learning;

2.2 To continue to develop the academy’s approach to personalised learning;

2.3 To unlock the talent and energy of all teaching staff;

2.4 To organise staff meetings and school based INSET in conjunction with the leadership team;

2.5 To lead professional development sessions based on the academy policies relating to the quality of teaching and learning;

2.6 To secure pupil engagement strategies are consistently applied across the academy;

2.7 To support Heads of Department in monitoring the quality of Teaching and Learning;

2.8 To initiate support plans for staff who have been identified as requiring rapid improvement;

2.9 To support the creation of an attractive environment which stimulates learning.

3. Leadership and Management

3.1 To be a member of the Senior Leadership Team and other staff teams as appropriate;

3.2 To contribute to the development of policy and planning for the academy and to monitor the implementation of relevant policies;

3.3 To develop and present an accurate and coherent account of the academy’s teaching and learning performance to a range of audiences including governors and parents;

3.4 To appropriately manage any relevant budgets allocated to the Assistant Principal;

3.5 To assist the Principal in shaping the direction of the academy and setting high expectations at all times;

3.6 To be included in duty rotas;

3.7 To promote teamwork and motivate staff to ensure effective working relations;

3.8 To liaise with senior colleagues at Aldar Education to support the strategic development of the academy.

Requirements:

BA in Education or BA Degree with PGCE is essential

Ability to establish positive working relationships with a range of stakeholders

A good knowledge of primary pedagogy and the English National Curriculum

About Mamoura British Academy

Al Mamoura Academy is a partly co-educational international school located in Abu Dhabi, first accepting an intake of students in 2016. The school has primary and secondary areas, with the school’s primary division being co-educational and secondary being girls-only. As a newly built school, Al Mamoura Academy is able to boast of a huge range of modern teaching and recreational facilities, such as an auditorium, a swimming pool, numerous sports courts and halls, as well as a fully equipped library and extensive IT facilities. The curriculum at Al Mamoura Academy is primarily based on the English curriculum in primary phases, whilst secondary phases offer a wider range of international qualifications including GCSEs and A-level studies as well as a US Curriculum pathway. The school also offers Arabic and Islamic studies programmes should students wish to study them. In addition to this, the school has a wide range of extra-curricular activities available for students to take part in.

Al Mamoura aims to provide a high quality, well supported and primarily English-style education for students both national and international. Teaching staff at Al Mamoura Academy are expected to be highly-qualified in their chosen field, and to further develop their teaching skills whilst working at the school. This includes holding an undergraduate degree in the subject they wish to teach, as well as hold prior teaching experience and conform to a number of other requirements depending on the seniority of their position.
