Job overview

About us

Doha College is a high-profile leading British International School, for children aged 3-18, offering a well-balanced, all-embracing curriculum that follows the UK National Curriculum. We are also the first High Performance Learning accredited school in the world. It is an exceptionally exciting time for the school as we recently opened our brand-new pioneering, 90,000m² state-of-the-art campus and marked our 40th year anniversary.

The opportunity

We are now looking to appoint an experienced & dynamic Cover Teacher, with the ability to teach Mathematics to Key Stages 3 and 4, to start in September 2021. This is a temporary position for one term in the first instance, with a possibility of extension until the end of academic year, following a review on a termly basis. The successful candidate will be required to provide cover, within and without the Mathematic department, as and when our regular teachers are absent.

The Mathematics department teaches a wide range of courses, and applicants should be able to demonstrate success in all age groups.  At Key Stage 3 our teaching programme is topic-based and incorporates problem solving and enquiry based learning. Key Stage 4 examination courses include IGCSE mathematics, GCSE statistics and IGCSE Further Mathematics.

Alongside an academic focus, we also offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities, aimed at increasing learning of the subject.

All our classrooms are equipped with interactive smartboards and displays, and all students are furnished with an iPad upon entry.

About you

The ideal candidate will be someone who teaches for understanding, can think on their feet and who will be able to stretch students as well as be willing to be challenged academically by them. Candidates should have demonstrated success in their current role, be highly motivated and successful practitioners and above all else, have a real passion for the subject. You will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating student achievement as well as contributing to accomplishing the College’s vision and mission.

Applicants should be willing to contribute in a positive manner to all aspects of the school vision including co-curricular activities.

We are a British international school and all of our lessons are taught in English, therefore a high standard of written and spoken English is essential, along with a detailed knowledge of the UK National Curriculum.

This is a non-sponsored position and only candidates with family sponsorship currently residing in Qatar will be considered.

Please note: Due to government requirements we can only consider applicants who are below 50 years old for this position.

Closing date: 23 June 2021

We reserve the right to close a position once we have received sufficient applications to form a shortlist. Early application is therefore encouraged.

Doha College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening, including reference checks with previous employers and a criminal records check. Teaching staff will also be subject to a Barred List and Prohibition from Teaching Check.
