Job overview

Due to the recent opening of the new Secondary School, we are looking to recruit a Curriculum Technician to support teaching and learning across years 7 and 8. The preferred candidate would have the ability to assist teachers with lesson set up and preparation, as well as the ability to support students in lessons. As the school will continue to grow over the next two years, you should be confident in working with students aged 11 to 16. 


The main focus of the role is to provide technical, practical and administrative assistance and support to enable teachers to concentrate on the provision of a high standard of education. This role will involve working across the entire curriculum, however, a candidate with a chemistry-based background is preferred due to the support needed in the science laboratories. Curriculum support will include, but is not limited to:


Science

  • Preparation and set up of apparatus and equipment for practical lessons in the science laboratories, including making up chemical solutions
  • Responsibility for ensuring the return of equipment to storage after checking and cleaning. Adhering to recognised international guidelines when moving, storing and disposing of materials.
  • Responsibility for the control of stock of materials and equipment, ordering and taking delivery of chemical supplies, equipment, stationery and other resources.
  • Routine maintenance of equipment to ensure a safe and orderly working environment.
  • Provision of reports of faults and equipment requirements
  • General cleaning and servicing of laboratories and work areas.
  • To ensure safe working practices at all times and keep up to date regarding Health & Safety and new equipment.


Physical Education

  • Preparation and set up of apparatus and equipment for practical lessons
  • Assistance with the climbing wall


Art

  • Preparation and set up of materials and general cleaning and servicing of work areas. 


Technology

  • Assist with Lego robotics. Preparation and set up of materials and returning equipment to storage after use 
  • Assistance in the distribution of Mac Books to classroom
  • General assistance and maintenance in the STEAM lab


Administration

  • Assisting in photocopying 
  • Assisting all secondary teachers with classroom displays 


Assistant Teacher

  • Support students learning across all subjects in the classroom, particularly in science. 
  • Work with small groups of students independently if required. 


General Duties

  • Provide First Aid when necessary
  • Undertake supervision duties as per the rota
