Secondary English Teacher

Newton College is looking for a dynamic English Language and Literature teacher committed to the holistic growth of students. The appointee for this post will teach DP Language and Literature, working closely with colleagues in the English Department. In addition to teaching within the DP program, the post-holder will also have some MYP teaching responsibilities.

Post Profile

• Trained to design engaging, differentiated learning experiences that are aligned to measurable objectives that are authentically assessed. MYP/DP training or the desire to complete such training.
• The ideal candidate will have a high-level of classroom practice, knowledge of constructivist approaches to education and familiarity with integrating a conceptual focus into units. An ideal candidate would also have advanced knowledge of literature, literary analysis and the writer’s workshop model.
• Proficient English speaker or equivalent. At least two years of teaching experience. Experience in MYP and DP curricula (Language and Literature or equivalent) is an advantage, as is experience working in diverse, multicultural and multilingual communities.
• Hold a teaching certification and university degree, preferably in Literature or a related subject
• Possess excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills;
• Demonstrate a growth mind-set and positive drive. 

Contract

• An initial two-year contract with flights to and from country of residence for appointee and close family;
