 Marist College, Emerald is a secondary Catholic College within the Diocese of Rockhampton. We are seeking a full-time permanent mathematics and science classroom teacher for commencement on 16 January 2023. An ability to teach Religious Education would be an advantage.

Successful applicants will demonstrate a commitment to providing quality Catholic education and learning based on a personal faith as well as be a highly trained and qualified professional with significant experience in the provision of high-quality educational programs. You will have well developed organisational skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; the ability to work well in a team, as well as the ability to work independently.

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and current Queensland College of Teachers Registration

About Marist College Emerald

Marist College Emerald is a co-educational, secondary, independent school that serves students between the ages of 11 and 18 years of age. Located in the Central Highlands, approximately three hours west of Rockhampton, Queensland, the college has over 580 enrolled students.

The school was founded in 1996 and is a member of the international network of Marist Colleges, which is present in over 80 countries internationally.

Facilities

The Marist College Emerald campus has green landscaped grounds and modern buildings creating the school. Students at the college can access a number of facilities including science laboratories, a hospitality precinct, art studios and technology workshops. Students in Years 10 through to 12 are also given the opportunity to make use of a laptop hire scheme.

Curriculum

The program taught at Marist College Emerald is structured around the College Curriculum Framework while also influenced by Marist College philosophies. The curriculum is based on a ten-day cycle with five periods each day.  It is compulsory for students in Years 7 through to 10 to study the six core subjects – English, Mathematics, Science, SOSE, Religious Education and Health & Physical Education. Years 7 and 7 students trial different elections each terms, while Year 9 and 10 students select their own. As part of the Catholic Education, Year 11 and 12 students must study English Mathematics and a Religion course. The rest of their curriculum is made up of VET, Authority and Authority Registered subjects.

The school believes  that this can be done by following in Jesus’ footsteps and modeling themselves on Mary and Champagnat.
