Trinity Academy Halifax

Secondary Maths Specialist

Trinity Academy is the outstanding flagship school in Trinity Multi-Academy Trust and are the lead school in the Trinity Teaching School Alliance, West Yorkshire Maths Hub and White Rose Maths Hub.

Trinity Academy is the model of excellence for the growing number of academies and free schools joining the trust. The team behind the success at Trinity are working to help those joining our trust to replicate what we do for the benefit of children and young people.

Our vision is to inspire each and every student to achieve their potential through high-quality teaching, provided within an environment led by our Christian values. In July 2013 we were judged ‘outstanding’ in every category by Ofsted and we have continued to strive to be considered ‘outstanding within outstanding’.

All of these fantastic and exciting initiatives require the expertise and commitment of dedicated staff and an exciting vacancy has arisen within the trust for a Secondary Maths Specialist. This is a great opportunity to be involved with the work of West Yorkshire Maths Hub, White Rose Maths and wider work of Trinity MAT.

The key areas of responsibility will include supporting the teaching of Maths in secondary schools and contributing to the development of high quality professional development resources and training.  You will have knowledge and experience of teaching Maths in a secondary provision and be committed to improving student outcomes within the subject.  You will lead by example and have the drive and enthusiasm to develop the teaching practice of your colleagues.

This role would suit an experienced practitioner looking for a new challenge.   Please note that part of this role involves delivering training across the country and therefore some travel may be required.

You must be fully committed to optimising the opportunities that are available to children and young people, secure in the knowledge that you will be joining the flagship academy that sets the standards for the schools that are part of an ambitious and forward-thinking Academy Trust.

Start date: September 2019, or sooner

Trinity Multi Academy Trust is a Diocesan multi academy trust that is open to schools of all faiths and none. The trust is committed to working within a respectful and compassionate environment and exists to serve the students in its care. We encourage all schools within the trust to celebrate their distinctive identity, whilst actively supporting each other to share best practice and their commitment to continual improvement.

In 2010, when Trinity Academy Halifax (TAH) opened in Calderdale, the plan was to address a decade of underperformance at secondary school level. Since then the academy has been rated as ‘outstanding’ twice. It has also established Trinity Institute of Education (formerly Trinity Teaching School Alliance) and the West Yorkshire Maths Hub, both of which have helped to raise pupil performance in hundreds of schools across the country.

In 2015 Trinity MAT was established. It now contains ten academies covering from nursery stage through to post-16, including two brand new secondary schools which opened in September 2021. The MAT has seen numerous educational changes but one thing has remained constant; we know what works, and so we have formed a group of like-minded schools to make a positive difference on a wider scale.

Our people are key to our continued growth and success. There is a relentless focus on improving standards for all children and young people in our care.  Working within the trust gives all staff the opportunity to work with some of the best practitioners and leaders, regardless of your location.

Our improvement strategies are based on clear systems and support, from our outstanding behaviour systems to regular teacher led CPD sessions, the trust recognises the value of empowering staff through quality weekly CPD, training and support. At the heart of our people strategies are the opportunities for staff at all levels to develop and progress their career.
