Astrea Academy Sheffield are looking for an enthusiastic Secondary Phase Receptionist to join their team.

Purpose

The Secondary Phase Receptionist will oversee the greeting of all visitors into the academy. The role will include supporting with scholar needs, first aid incidents and the day to day running of the main office.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide a positive, professional first impression by greeting all visitors 
  • Provide a professional and courteous telephone manner at all times 
  • Provide assistance and guidance to visitors as required 
  • Manage the signing in and out of all guests and visitors by issuing and collecting identity badges to all visitors and contractors 
  • Maintain security and safety standards as required, ensuring that visitors are escorted and contractors do not have access to areas without the appropriate authorisation or supervision maintained 
  • Ensure accurate and effective adherence to the delivery of policies and procedures 
  • Assist with the distribution of external and internal post and other communication 
  • Assist with the use of Parentmail/Parent App 
  • Be first aid trained or willing to undertake first aid training, to provide cover and support for the lead First Aider when necessary by attending to all student and staff medical needs 
  • Be aware of school activities & events that are taking place, so as to be able to deal with any enquiries that may arise 
  • Contribute to the overall ethos/works/aims of the school 
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with all members of staff 
  • Undertake routine cash handling duties, receiving and recording payments, issuing receipts 
  • Provide administrative support to other departments at times of high workload/staff absence 
  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health and safety, security, confidentiality and data protection 
  • Any other responsibilities not listed above as reasonably requested by the Office Manager or Principal

Person Specification

Experience  

  • Relevant experience in a similar role 
  • Previous experience of working in a busy office environment where security is essential 
  • Previous experience of working in an educational setting

Education and Qualifications 

  • GCSE English & Maths grade C or above (or equivalent) 
  • Emergency First Aid Certificate (training will be given)

Skills and Knowledge 

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills 
  • Good organisation skills 
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks of varying difficulty through the day 
  • Demonstrate a willingness and enthusiasm for training and progression 
  • Able to communicate and relate well with colleagues, visitors & scholars in a polite professional and friendly manner at all times 
  • Able to work on own and with a team with little day to day supervision 
  • Be friendly and have a flexible approach to work 
  • Be enthusiastic 
  • Ability to deal with difficult situations in an objective and professional manner 
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and accuracy 
  • Have a calm and confident manner 
  • Demonstrate personal and professional integrity, including modelling Astrea values and vision
