Role and position in the organisation
The purpose of the Secondary Assistant Principal, Student Welfare is to:
- Provide professional leadership and management of the pastoral programme in order to secure improved standards of learning and achievement and overall well-being of students in accordance with the school’s stated Mission and Objectives.
- Lead Heads of Year.
- Lead the Secondary House System.
- Provide effective use of resources and improved standards of learning and achievement in accordance with the school’s stated Mission and Objectives.
- To deputise for the Principal of the Secondary School.
The Assistant Principal, Student Welfare reports to the Secondary Principal and is a member of the Secondary Leadership Team and the Cross-Campus Academic Leadership Team.
On occasions, the Secondary Assistant Principal, Student Welfare will be nominated by the Head of School to be Acting Secondary Principal and/or Acting Head of School during periods of absence.
The Secondary Assistant Principal, Student Welfare works in partnership with two teams: the Heads of Year and Heads of House who are responsible for distinct aspects of Secondary School life. The Heads of Year provide professional leadership and management of student welfare issues in order to provide a safe and secure environment to allow students to reach their full potential in all areas of school life. The Heads of House coordinate the House system and provide opportunities for student leadership.
