Doha College is one of the oldest British curriculum schools in Qatar providing a world class education for 1914 students between the ages of 3 and 18, who represent over 72 nationalities. Established in 1980, the college was originally opened to meet the demand for a British-style education, and continues to operate under the sponsorship of the British Embassy on a not-for-profit basis.

Primary Objective of Role:

Primary objective of this role is supervise the day to day running of the Library in Secondary, ensuring effective services to students and staff, in line with Doha College Vision, Mission and Core Values.

Accountability and Responsibilities:

  • Successful candidate will be responsible for developing and supervising the Library in the Secondary school, creating a stimulating learning environment for students;
  • Overseeing the issue and discharge of books and other materials, including the preparation and dispatching of overdue letters;
  • Participate in Library professional organisations and activities (i.e. membership, conference, meetings and group discussions, book fairs, seminar- workshops, etc.) to keep abreast with the current trends of Librarianship.

Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Librarianship / Information Studies Degree or equivalent qualification. 
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good planning and organisational skills.
  • Positive approach to problem solving.
  • Experience of working with children in a similar capacity.
  • Prior experience managing or working in a learning resource centre or library is preferable but not essential.
  • The successful applicant will be a reliable and enthusiastic individual with experience of promoting a passion for inquiry and effective research skills. Well-developed organisational and communication skills are a prerequisite. We are looking for the right balance between experience, enthusiasm and a passion for reading and books, which will inspire our students.
