Samford Valley Steiner School (SVSS) is seeking applications for a suitably qualified and experienced secondary teacher in High School Physics. Candidates with a willingness and or experience of teaching across other science subject areas, as well as maths, are preferred. 

This position is a permanent part time position (0.4 FTE) and will commence in Term 3 2022.  All applicants for the teaching position at Samford Valley Steiner School will need to demonstrate a genuine interest in Steiner education and a strong commitment to supporting and promoting Samford Valley’s ethos.  A willingness to undertake professional learning in Steiner education is important for your success in the role. 

The school is situated in the beautiful, rural setting of Samford Valley, and yet is still located in close proximity to Brisbane CBD; a vibrant, multicultural, cosmopolitan city.  The beautiful sandy beaches of the Sunshine Coast are only one and a half hours to the north and the beaches of the Gold Coast and Northern New South Wales are one to two hours to the south. The school is situated on 20 acres of forested land along Samford Creek. 

The school is 35 years old and is a strong and vibrant educational facility providing an authentic Steiner Education to students from Pre-Prep through to Class 12 with double streams in 2022 in Classes 1 to 5. Student numbers are around 470 and growing. Our curriculum is based on the Australian Steiner School Curriculum Framework and is uncompromised right to the end of high school, including Classes 11 and 12 completing the NZ Steiner School Certificate (an internationally recognised qualification for tertiary entrance). We have a vibrant staff combining youth and experience and a stable organisational structure.  The College of Teachers sits at the heart of the structure and advises a Senior Leadership Team, comprising of representatives of the different areas of the school, and a Director who is accountable to a governance Board. 

Samford Valley Steiner School is committed to providing safe and supportive work practices. Samford Valley Steiner School is a mixed, non-selective, all-through school with sixth form in Queensland, serving students from the age of 3-18. The all-through school is situated in Wights Mountain.

Samford Valley Steiner School was founded in 1987 by a group of parents and teachers who were looking for a Steiner educational institution in Brisbane. The school values an excellence relationship between staff, students and parents.

Curriculum

Specialist classes are taught using three main teaching modes – main lessons, studio lessons and landscape lessons.
