Established in 1972, Dover Court International School in Singapore is one of the leading inclusive British international schools in South East Asia.

The school caters to students from age 3 to age 18. The curriculum is based upon the UK EYFS framework, the National Curriculum for England, the IPC, IGCSE/GCSE and the IB Diploma Programme. The school is active in the local International School sports league and are extremely competitive across a number of sports. The school has an extensive programme of residential trips starting in Year 4 and continuing up into the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award. All students are involved in a wide range of after school activities mainly run by teaching staff. About 10% of our students are supported by our integrated SEN unit.

The school is on a green 12 acre site about 20 minutes from the Singapore CBD and has specialist facilities including  libraries, ICT suites, The Link (makerspace), dance studio, swimming pool and sports hall. We recently opened a brand-new building to accommodate the increasing numbers of Secondary which boasts purpose-built Art, Drama, PE, Music and IT specialist spaces.

We are members of FOBISIA and is CIS accredited. We are an EDEXCEL and AQA exam centre and are authorised by the IBO to deliver the IB Diploma Programme. We are the only school in Singapore to offer ASDAN courses.

Staff are well supported with weekly CPD sessions run in-house and access to external training courses where they fit the school and personal development plans. There is a strong ethos of professional collegiality.

About the Role

The Pathway 3 Leader will coordinate and develop the Pathway 3 curriculum, and provision, to ensure that it best meets the needs of the students that we serve.  The Pathway 3 provision is designed to meet the needs of children with moderate to severe learning difficulties by providing an inclusive and personalised approach to learning which allows for greater flexibility of delivery than a ‘mainstream’ academic curriculum.

The role requires detailed knowledge of highly effective SEND provision and pedagogy.  The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate highly effective pedagogy in their own teaching, and will be proactive in keeping this knowledge up to date.  They will be highly organised and have excellent communication skills enabling them to build strong relationships with a range of people including; pupils, parents, teaching and support staff and outside agencies. They will have an enthusiastic, innovative and dynamic approach to inclusion and SEND provision, to meet the needs of students with significant learning difficulties.

The Pathway 3 Leader will work predominantly with the Pathway 3 teachers, the school therapists and the specialist subject teachers who also deliver lessons to Pathway 3 classes. They will also work closely with the Deputy Head for Inclusion, and Primary Pathway 3 Leader, to deliver a coordinated, engaging, comprehensive, and dynamic learning environment and provision.

Inclusivity is at the heart of DCIS and as such, employability is an important consideration for our students and parents.  The successful candidate will support the development and delivery of a personalised curriculum that promotes opportunities for students to develop life and employability skills, appropriate qualifications, and functional communication, literacy and numeracy skills.  They must be an advocate for inclusion and demand the very highest expectation of provision for our most vulnerable learners.

As part of the role, you will also communicate closely with parents to help make sure students experience consistent and coordinated support, where interventions both in and out of school complement each other, in the best interests of the child.

About you

Experience of teaching within a specialist SEN department or provision which supports students with moderate to severe SEND.

Able to adapt quickly to our fast-paced international environment, you will bring a university degree, a recognised teaching qualification and considerable teaching experience to the table. Committed and creative, you will be reflective on your own teaching and student outcomes, seeking out and implementing new ideas and innovative methods to raise the standards.

The ability to lead and develop a team,  and to communicate clearly with all stakeholders is essential.

Keen to collaborate and share your specialist expertise, you will be a fitting ambassador for the school. You will communicate with confidence across diverse audiences and situations, using your expertise to build strong relationships with parents and students. You will also be able to meet visa-related restrictions for Singapore.
