Job overview

St. George’s School seeks a well-qualified SEND Coordinator to work across our secondary school, to begin in January 2019 or sooner.

The School

Having opened in September 2013, St. George’s School Munich has rapidly developed into a thriving community of around 400 pupils and 60 teachers. The school continues to grow, and as the school matures we expect to reach 800 pupils. The school’s ethos of combining an enriching curriculum with family orientated care makes the school a warm and engaging place to work and learn.

In September 2017, the school embarked on an exciting phase of its development, as it moved to a new, purpose-built campus located in the city. These premises provide first-class educational facilities for all ages and subject areas.

The National Curriculum is taught throughout the school and we offer IGCSE qualifications to pupils in our Upper School and the IB Diploma Programme to our sixth form students.

One of a group of three schools located across Germany, St. George’s offers the successful applicant an exciting range of opportunities for professional development and growth across the school group.

The Location

The school’s new campus is located in the area of Schwabing-Freimann, to the north of the city centre. The site enjoys good access to the U6 metro line, as well as the A9 motorway.

Germany’s third largest city, and the capital of the state of Bavaria, Munich is a dynamic and vibrant cultural centre, with a large and diverse international community. Situated on the northern edge of the Alps, Munich offers a high standard of living, as well as numerous opportunities for travel and outdoor pursuits.

Munich airport is located 30km from the school, with many daily flights to the UK, and high speed rail services connect Munich to a wide range of European destinations.

The Role

Alongside monitoring the provision for pupils with special needs, the role will involve ensuring appropriate assessment and referral, as well as significant work with teaching staff to ensure that needs are met in the classroom.
