The European school Copenhagen is looking for an experienced teacher of Physics and Mathematics (language of instruction English) for Gymnasium level  students (age 16-19). 

As the candidate will be an employee of Copenhagen's Kommune, the successful candidate must have any non-danish qualifications recognized to teach both Physics and Mathematics at Gymnasium level by the Ministry of Higher Education and Science. Any job offer is subject to such succe ssful recognition. In order to gain recognition candidates should possess at minimum a Masters level degree in either Physics or Mathematics (or related fields) and significant teaching experience in both subjects at Gymnasium level (16-19 years old).  Note: The recognition of qualifications is granted exclusively by the Ministry and the school has no discretion in the decisions made. 

The school teaches the European Baccalaureate (EB) system and while any experience in this system is a benefit, it is not essential. However, experience of teaching internationally, or outside of a candidates 'home' system would be considered a strong asset.

  • Teaching qualifications are essential    
  • Ability to differentiate your teaching in order to challenge all students    
  • English as a first language   
  • Proven experience in teaching the relevant age group (age 11-19)   
  • Outstanding commitment and ability to engage students and assist in developing their social, creative and academic skills

About the school:  

European School Copenhagen (ESCPH) is a public, international school under the Municipality of Copenhagen and the first of its kind in Denmark. The school is a department of the internationally renowned Sankt Annæ Gymnasium. 

ESCPH opened in August 2014 and will in the school year 2022/23 have a full Upper and Lower Secondary. When the school is fully fased in in 2024, it will have 1000 students from P0-S7.    

ESCPH is an accredited school within the established European School system and as such offers a European education combining the rigorous educational requirements for European Schools with Danish pedagogy and working guidelines.  

The mission of the European Schools is to provide a multilingual and multicultural education for nursery, primary and secondary pupils.  The European Schools have a strong focus on languages. Students learn a foreign language from Primary 1 and will later be taught History and Geography in their first foreign language.

The European School Copenhagen is an accredited school under the internationally acknowledged system of European Schools, known for their high academic standards and declared mission to build bridges between cultures.

The school is co-educational and offers a multicultural and multilingual education for nursery, primary and secondary students, from age 5 through 19.

European Schools follow the curriculum of the European Schools system, with a strong focus on learning languages and science to a very high standard. The education leads to the internationally recognised European Baccalaureate (EB) diploma.

The school opened in 2014 and currently has around 850 pupils in nursery class to secondary 5 across three language sections - English, Danish and French. The school is still growing the French language section and will see the first Secondary 7 classes graduate in the summer of 2023. When the school is fully phased in, there will be close to 1,000 students at the school from nursery class to secondary 7.

At the completion of Secondary 7, successful students are awarded the European Baccalaureate diploma, which is an officially recognised entry qualification for higher education in all EU member states and many other countries.

Location

The school is located in the Carlsberg City district of Copenhagen, in a state-of-the-art school building completed in October 2018. The school is close to the city centre and near public transport. The exciting new learning environment includes teaching and practice rooms, an auditorium, sports hall and other facilities, including a canteen and production kitchen, where the children help with the preparation of healthy school lunches.
