Job overview

Applications are called for full time and part time secondary teachers.

We are seeking creative, flexible and innovative thinking professionals who are suitably qualified and wish to work in an exciting, collaborative and dynamic environment. An ability and keenness to teach across multiple subject areas will be highly regarded as will advanced digital technology skills.

Within the role is the opportunity to indicate an expression of interest for Middle Leadership positions such as Pastoral, Curriculum/Learning as well as Program Leaders.

We also have opportunities available for Support Teacher: Inclusive Education (ST:IE) and Teacher/Librarian positions. These may be either part time or full time for combined roles.

Successful candidates will be flexible and forward thinking in their approach to classrooms, and fully conversant with current best practice in learning and teaching.

For BCE employees, this is demonstrated practice and understanding of the Effective and Expected Practices of the BCE Model of Pedagogy. For all other applicants, this is demonstrated knowledge and application of the model of pedagogy used in their school and an understanding of the BCE Model of Pedagogy.

Strong consideration will be given to applicants who:

• have experience teaching their first and second teaching areas
• are able to teach Religious Education in a Catholic school or be eligible for accreditation to teach Religious Education

Sophia College is a Catholic secondary school located in the Lockyer Valley, approximately 80 kms west of Brisbane. The college is master planned to accommodate five streams of students, commencing in 2021 with an expected three streams of Year 7, and increasing by one year level each year until it reaches Year 12. It has been designed with a focus on “integral ecology”, with the development over time of an eco-science precinct. Its Catholic identity will be enriched through a Franciscan spirituality. Sophia College will provide a high quality, inclusive, secondary co-educational Catholic education to the Plainland and neighbouring communities.

To be successful in this role you will: 

  • have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education;
  • hold current registration with the Queensland College of Teachers; and
  • be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.

 Employment Tenure:    Full Time & Part Time positions available + Fixed Term and Continuing positions available

 If Part Time, hours and/or days required:  Part time hours to be established.

 Employment Conditions:   Diocesan Catholic Education Employing Authorities in Queensland Single Interest Agreement 2015-2019 

This position involves working with children.  The appointment of successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory employment screening for child related employment in accordance with the law.
