Description St Mary’s Catholic College is seeking a Part-time (2 days per week) Temporary Mathematics for the 2020 school year.

Position Requirements • A relevant understanding of the philosophy of Catholic Education;


• Ability to teach in the relevant curriculum area/s;


• High level knowledge of the relevant key learning area/s and a proven capacity to improve student learning;


• Effective classroom management and teaching skills which enable students with a diverse range of needs to achieve their full potential;


• Exemplary values and attitudes appropriate to professional practice and the intellectual, physical and social development of students;


• Ability to successfully implement and evaluate curriculum initiatives in accordance with curriculum and standards framework;


• Demonstrated capacity to reflect critically upon professional practice and commitment to ongoing professional learning;


• Commitment and capacity to actively contribute to a broad range of school activities as a member of the school team;


• Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and other teachers;


• Use of interpersonal skills to develop positive relationships with students, school staff and the wider community;


• Willingness to fulfil the requirements of the CSO Accreditation to Work Teach and Lead Policy.
Essential Criteria • Current NESA Accreditation and Paid Working With Children Check (WWCC);

• Qualifications as a four year trained teacher;

• Completion of Anaphylaxis training;

• Compliance with the CSO Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead 2018 - formerly the Faith Education Accreditation (FEA) Policy 2012;

• Current Accreditation at Category B – Accreditation to Teach (Teaching staff who do not teach Religion) or working towards this accreditation.
Desirable Criteria - Experience Teaching Stages 4-6 Mathematics.

St Marys Senior High School is a co-educational government senior school for students in Years 11-12. Located in St Marys, NSW, this school was the first government high school to cater exclusively to senior students. They have approximately 900 students and 65 teaching staff.

St Marys was founded in 1989, and the school offers a wide range of academically challenging and specialised courses to prepare students for further study, and the school also attracts mature-age students.

Facilities include a large lecture theatre-style and traditional classrooms, computer laboratories and large library, interactive whiteboards, internet and technology access, performing arts studio and visual art studios, an industrial hospitality kitchen, spacious school grounds and sporting fields, and a school farm and student car park. 

 Curriculum

St Mary's curriculum is varied and challenging, and encourages independent learning to prepare students for university. A wide range of specialised courses are offered, including history, business, chemistry, food technology, engineering, legal studies, music, physics, software design, and visual arts. Languages include Italian, Japanese, French, and Spanish. Students can earn their HSC, or High School Certificate, in these subjects. 

The school offers a peer mentoring program, and access to a welfare and personal development team of counsellors. Popular extra-curricular activities include debate, drama, Duke of Edinburgh Award schemes, musicals, and a wide range of sports.
