About St Clare's High School

St Clare’s High School is a mixed, secondary, independent, mainstream, Roman Catholic high school in Taree, New South Wales. The school has approximately 740 pupils enrolled and caters to students between Year 7 and Year 12.

St Clare’s High School was founded in 1926, overseen by the Sisters of St Joseph, Lochinvar, and initially only catered to secondary school students. Due to its growing student population it opened a new secondary school, Rosary High, in 1962. A third building was built on the present site and was called Taree Catholic High School. In 1986, the school was renamed St Clare’s High School.

Facilities

Facilities at Clare's include a learning centre, covered outdoor learning area and basketball courts. The school puts technology first with internet access and computers a must-have.

Curriculum

The curriculum prepares pupils for the award of the Record of School Achievement and the Higher School Certificate according to regulations outlined by the BOASTES. R.E. is compulsory for all years and is supplemented by the key learning areas: English, maths, science, HSIE, technology, languages and P.E. In Year 11 and 12, pupils work toward their HSC examination while VET courses are also offered. Extra-curriculars include choir, band, sports and the creative and performing arts.

School ethos

The school is Catholic, first and foremost, and works hard to commit to Christian values. It aims to provide a ‘rich learning environment, based on Gospel values, that produces citizens who are committed to achieving their best and creating a world where others may do the same’.
