Job overview

Based at our Harrow Weald campus, our Foundation Studies section is a well-established area of the College, and offers provision and support for students with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities, the offsite High Needs Students supported internship programme, as well as the College’s Entry to FE programmes for students beginning College below Level 2.   High Needs Student support is good at Harrow College and on course to outstanding, with considerable growth in numbers annually.  The Section Manager will lead their team in the state of the art Spring House Specialist Provision Centre and work closely with Additional Learning Support colleagues in the specialist High Needs Support Centre. 

Reporting to the Head of School for Foundation Learning, ALS and Art, you would lead the development and management of provision in this section, including the full range of PMLD milestones 1-4 up to LLDD and Entry/Level 1 provision.  In addition we also offer a specialist ASD provision at Level 2. You would line manage academic and support staff within the Section and would teach on courses within Foundation Studies.

You should possess a degree and an advanced level teaching qualification, and have recent teaching experience on Foundation programmes.  You will need to be conversant with current provision for students with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities and have a good understanding of the relevant Functional Skills.  You should have good leadership skills with experience of managing or supervising a team in Further Education or in a similar setting.
