Smart Teachers is recruiting for a SEMH Teacher to work with KS4 students with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH) at a school in Hertfordshire, close to Stanstead. This role is a permanent position starting January 2019, teaching at a small independent school that specialises in working with SEMH students. The school is ideally looking for a SEMH Teacher who has some experience working within this field, but would also consider strong unqualified teachers with experience working with students with SEMH. The majority of the teaching takes place off site at a number of different locations, including the library and the local parks.

· SEMH Teacher 

· To mentor and build strong and successful relationships with KS$ children aged between 14 and 16 

· Working with a small, but solid, team of teaching staff

· Permanent position starting January 2019 

· Suitable for someone who can drive and has access to a vehicle

· Salary of £30,000

About the School

· A small independent specialist school for students with SEMH 

· Less than 15 students currently attend the school 

· Students’ behaviour is challenging and they have a low level of learning 

· Lessons are taught on a 1:1 basis, and these generally take place off site at a number of publicly accessed locations 

· Small team of teaching staff, who have excellent relationships with the students (no more than 10 staff in total)

· Expansion plans are in place, and a new space for learning is being acquired in the New Year

· Located in the Hertfordshire area (easily accessible by a 40 minute train journey from central London and 30 minutes from Cambridge)

In order to be considered for this role, the SEMH Teacher will need to meet the following criteria:

· Bachelor of Education / PGCE / or equivalent teaching degree with QTS (unqualified teachers with SEMH experience will also be considered for this role) 

· Proven experience teaching the UK, or an equivalent, curriculum

· NQTs and/or OS-trained teachers are welcome to apply

· Have strong communication, literacy and numeracy skills

· Prior experience working with students with social, emotional and mental health needs (preferred)

· Eligible to work in the UK (must have valid visa)

· Recent classroom-based references and valid DBS/police checks
