Work as a member of our Home Education Outreach Team delivering sessions for students unable to attend school for a variety of reasons which may encompass medical, personal, behavioural and mental health.

Experience is essential for this role in the past few years. You must have relevant experience working with children or young people in order for Vision to be able to obtain recent, professional references.

In some instances (particularly long term) you will be required to design the curriculum, produce lesson plans and stimulating varied sessions according to guidance and ability guidelines and to coincide with a young person’s interests.  In others, work will be supplied and may need to be adapted, delivered creatively and changed to suit the learners’ needs.  All progress and session summaries must be reported via an online tracking system.  Typically you may work with 1-2 learners for this SEMH Tutor role. Typically one in a.m and one p.m., or alternatively work just 0.5 (mornings or afternoons) with a young person.

This SEMH Tutor work would suit an experienced, confident staff member able to work independently and on their own initiative.  You must have excellent people skills and sensitivity to families’ and carers’ circumstances; a purposeful approach to learning and the ability to build positive working relationships.  We also require frequent feedback and lines of communication with ourselves and school.

In order to be considered for this SEMH Tutor work you must also have consistent and continuous availability, usually 5 days per week, either on a full or part time (mornings or afternoons) basis. Work is challenging and there is an opportunity to make a lasting impact on young learners.

Our SEMH Tutor staff require a Full UK Driving Licence, Business Insurance, Safeguarding Training, Child Protection Training in the last 1-2 months (certificate supplied or completed with Vision free of charge), other training specified to the role or nature of the individual provision.  Training can be completed with us at short notice.
