SEN Class Teacher

Salary: Outer London Teachers Main Pay Scale (SP1-SP12) £29,915 to £41,136 per annum plus SEN allowance £2,270 per annum

Hours: Full time, all year round

Location: Addington Valley Academy, Field Way, New Addington, Croydon

Addington Valley Academy (AVA) is a co-educational Special School which will have 120 places for children and young people aged 2-19 who have autism and social communication, cognitive, sensory and social, emotional, and behavioural needs in the Croydon region. All our children have Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). We opened in September 2020 with an initial cohort of 22 ASD year 7 pupils in a temporary site based in Croydon and now have 80 pupils across all Key Stages, Early Years and 6th Form.

Addington Valley Academy are seeking to recruit Class Teachers with Qualified Teacher status, or willingness to achieve this, to be responsible for the education and welfare of designated classes or groups of pupils with complex needs on the Autistic Spectrum. You will be a passionate and committed advocate for SEND children and comfortable teaching across the key stages. Experience of working with pupils with SEN, ASD or SLD is desirable but not essential, what is important is you have the drive, creativity and a passion for teaching and learning to join our new team. A full CPD programme will be offered to include PECs, Team-Teach, Attention Autism and TEACCH.

This is an exciting time in the school’s development as we have moved into a newly constructed school building for the academic year 2021-22 with a fantastic learning environment designed to meet the needs of autistic children.
