Job role:         SEN Teacher (Maternity Cover)

Salary:             From £23,212 per annum Unqualified teacher & M1-5 Qualified, experience dependent

Location:         Underley Garden, Kirkby Lonsdale, LA6 2DZ

Hours:        40 hours per week; Monday to Friday 8am - 4pm

Contract:        Fixed term ending 01/06/2024; Term time only

We are looking for a SEN Teacher to join our team at Underley Garden in Kirkby Lonsdale.

Purpose of the Job

You will be motivated by your belief that every child can achieve and reach their potential. Whilst previous experience of working in an SEN environment would be desirable, excellent teaching skills and the right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are just as important. Experience of continuous provision and experiential learning would also be of real interest.

To help enhance learning opportunities for our pupils, we now have an opportunity for a teacher to join our close-knit team. You will be delivering inclusive, responsive and innovative teaching and learning in a nurturing environment. You will constantly strive to produce outstanding/good teaching and always learning to ensure that all learners succeed. Under the reasonable direction of the Head Teacher and Senior Leadership Team, carry out the professional duties of a school teacher as set out in the current School policies and uphold the professional code of the GTC.

You will teach in accordance with the ethos, organisation and policies of the school as a fully committed member of the teaching team and as detailed in the specific duties and core standards below.

Underley Garden School is a large school with small class sizes, focusing on children and young people, aged 5-19, who have a range of complex needs associated with autism and learning disabilities, including complex communication, sensory and behavioural needs associated with their disabilities.

Our School adopts a holistic, person-centred approach to the development of our young people and endeavours to ensure that they achieve as high a standard as possible. We offer a comprehensive portfolio of education, care and therapy to meet the individual requirements of young people with complex special educational needs.

Our highly trained, experienced staff are dedicated to unpick each pupil’s specific needs and match them with an integrated blend of educational and therapeutic aims which ensures progress and success.

The onsite therapists – Speech and Language, Occupational, Educational Psychologists and Learning Disability Nurses – regularly visit each class and home to help ensure our therapeutic approach is embedded across every aspect of Underley Garden life.
