Introduction

The Governors are seeking to appoint an inspirational SENCo & Inclusion Leader maintaining the excellent standards of learning and opportunity at Cransley School. 

The successful candidate will understand, value and nurture Cransley School’s inclusive ethos and will build upon the School’s recent success, whilst preserving its culture and mission statement:  Seeking Excellence; Nurturing Relationships and Venturing Beyond.

The successful candidate will carry out the professional duties of a SENCo across the entire school, with appropriate age and subject-related support, and should also have completed or plan to enrol and complete the National Award for SEN coordination (NASENCO).

It is envisioned that the role will be a non-teaching post with 0.6 of a working week dedicated to SENCo duties.

The candidate will  be expected to have QTS and be capable to carry out the duties of a classroom teacher, and bringing a wonderful sense engagement, creativity, enjoyment and fun.  As a result the role could be brought to full time status with teaching commitments, depending on the area of specialist subject expertise, which would ideally be English.

Contract: Part-time / Full time permanent, following induction or probationary period.

Personal Specification 

The ideal candidate would have the following key skills, experience and attributes: 

Qualifications and Experience 

  • A good degree, with QTS. 
  • Evidence of completion or plans to enrol and complete the National Award for SEN coordination (NASENCO)
  • Good understanding, experience and knowledge of current educational issues for the 4-16 age group. 


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

  • Provide high quality strategic leadership to ensure that all SEND learners across the school make substantial and sustained progress from their different starting points. 
  • Provide strong and effective leadership to and management of the Learning Support Assistants, who contribute to the department, ensuring that high quality, consistent learning takes place. 
  • Give guidance to all teaching staff in order to provide strategies to ensure that pupils with SEND are not disadvantaged in their learning and have the same chances to make progress. 
  • Ensure all information that teaching staff require is clear, up to date and concise.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to listen, consult and discuss;
  • Excellent ICT and Literacy skills, with knowledge of formative assessment educational technology, e.g. Classroom Monitor, 2 Simple Build-a-Profile etc)
  • Experience of delivering synthetic phonics systems, and encouraging a love of reading
  • Knowledge of multi-sensory, problem-solving and investigatory approach to learning in Maths and English
  • Ability to provide and promote an exemplar standard of spoken language
  • Ability to lead and drive innovation in technology across the curriculum, as well as project management skills 
  • Willingness to go above and beyond, seeing the value in extensive extra-curricular opportunities, in sport, music, art and other areas
  • Find extensive enrichment activities for our pupils
  • Highly efficient, with excellent time management skills 
  • Commitment to achieving the highest possible academic standards and personal outcomes across the curriculum.
