Job overview

Prenton Preparatory School would like to appoint a suitably qualified SENCo, who will bring the required skills experience to lead this area on behalf of the school, ensuring that relevant pupils make excellent progress in academic attainment.

The role will work closely with staff to ensure they are provided with advice and training on how best to support relevant pupils. The postholder will work in collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team and Pastoral Team to develop the integration of the SEN policy within the everyday functioning of the school. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a track record in forging strong relationships with parents, sharing relevant assessment information and examination results to demonstrate pupil progress.

The successful applicant will also have teaching commitments in Key Stages 1 and 2 and will lead a suitable subject across the school.

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The School may carry out online searches on shortlisted applicants and all applicants will be required to provide details of their online profile, including social media accounts, as part of their application.

The safeguarding responsibilities of the post include:

Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom you are responsible and with whom you come into contact.

Maintaining good order and discipline among the pupils and safeguarding their health and safety both when they are on the School premises and when they are engaged in authorised school activities elsewhere.

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. The School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions on a self-declaration form in advance of attending an interview (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.

Interested parties should contact school on 0151 652 3182 or enquiry@prentonprep.co.uk for an application form to be returned to: Mr. M. T. R. Jones, Headteacher at headteacher@prentonprep.co.uk.
