Job overview

We are seeking an ambitious and inspirational teaching professional. We wish to appoint an exceptional individual who has the necessary skills and attributes to have a real impact upon our SEND provision at Bohunt Wokingham. Potential is as important as experience so applications are invited from teachers interested in training in the role as well as colleagues who are already qualified and experienced. We are a new Academy that opened in September 2016 with Year 7 only. We moved into state of the art buildings in summer 2017 and have grown to 380 students. We are heavily oversubscribed.

Our Student Support department is small but growing with 4 full time LSAs this year and some specialist external provision for individual students. The vacancy arises following the current post holder’s relocation closer to home.

Are you able to:

  • Inspire and innovate?
  • Nurture and develop (yourself as well as others)?
  • Commit to, and raise further, high achievement and motivation?
  • Optimise learning for those with additional needs?

We will:

  • Provide a supportive learning environment
  • Offer you the opportunity to make a difference
  • Actively promote your career development – you may already be targeting a middle leader position and we will support you accordingly

The South of England based Bohunt Educational Trust has evolved from Bohunt School in Hampshire, which is rated Outstanding in every category by Ofsted and the Times Educational Supplement School of the Year 2014.   BET's educational philosophy is encapsulated by three short verbs: Enjoy, Respect and Achieve. Working in a new and expanding school is a once in a lifetime opportunity. You will need to demonstrate a commitment to and evidence of; success in sustaining academic excellence, helping every child succeed, being an excellent classroom practitioner as well as being able to; work as part of a team, roll up your sleeves and inspire other teachers to excel.

Bohunt School Wokingham opened its doors to Year 7 pupils in 2016. Having grown substantially since then, we are now heavily oversubscribed, with a school roll of 1200 students aged 11-16. With the exciting announcement of our expansion to include a sixth form and additional spaces in all year groups, we will soon see more students through to 18.

Our ethos of ‘enjoy, respect, achieve’ underpins our vision to give all students an outstanding education and develop skills in the classroom and beyond. These core values help our students flourish throughout their school career, and on into later life. Reflective of the success achieved in its first three years, Ofsted recognised that the “overall educational experience for many pupils at the school is ‘life-changing’.”

Our new site has been designed and built with education at the forefront and includes specialist teaching spaces and a whole school one to one iPad provision, as well a wide range of sports and extra-curricular provision. We are leaders in outdoor education with an outdoor classroom, the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme and Big Expeditions to wilderness locations, alongside a variety of other trips at home and abroad.

We are part of the supportive and innovative Bohunt Education Trust, a MAT with eight schools including two Sixth Forms and a boarding facility. We may be separated geographically, however, all BET schools are student centred, sharing an uncompromising belief in high achievement and unconditional positive expectations, a real sense of community and a dynamic, innovative approach to education.

Candidates are welcome to visit the school to discuss any roles and gain a sense of our educational ethos and culture.
