Job overview

We are proud that Outwood Academy Carlton is rated Good by Ofsted and we are delighted to be based in the friendly, attractive village of Carlton in South Yorkshire.

We believe that learning should be both enjoyable and enriching. With a holistic view of education, we aim to create a safe and secure learning community that encourages healthy and sustainable lifestyles and empowers students to pursue career pathways they will find stimulating and deeply rewarding.

The Academy became part of the Outwood Family of Schools in 2016 and as part of the Outwood Grange Academies Trust we are determined to fully support colleagues within our Outwood Family both professionally and personally.

We work hard to ensure we reduce workload on staff, allowing more time in the classroom to put our vision of students first, raising standards and transforming lives into practice.

In addition to this success, we will actively invest in your future through working closely with the Outwood Institute of Education to offer access to a wide range of CPD opportunities, with all staff receiving a minimum of two hours’ CPD each week.

It is essential that the person we appoint is an outstanding teacher, as much of the role will be to ensure that our teachers are meeting the needs of all the young people in their classrooms. In order to ensure the postholder’s credibility and to model good practice to others, the role will also encompass a significant teaching load. A SEND background and/or qualifications are an advantage, though not essential.

The role of SENCO is a leadership post and the postholder would be expected to attend Senior Leadership Team meetings, play an active part in the strategic leadership of the academy and line manage a large team of staff.

We also offer a generous employment package with a whole host of staff benefits, including a health cash plan, a cycle to work scheme, plus a partnership with car leasing company, Synergy, with offers exclusively for Outwood colleagues.

If you share our vision, join our family.
