Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a SENCo to join the developing inclusion team at King Henry School

King Henry School is a popular non-selective Academy which caters for 1688 students, including over 250 in our successful Sixth Form in the heart of the London Borough of Bexley. You will be joining at an important time in our work as part of Odyssey Trust for Education alongside Townley Grammar School, enhancing your opportunities for career development and professional experience.

We are committed to prioritising the wellbeing of our staff as professionals as well as constantly striving to improve teaching and learning practice. We have ten CPD days over the academic year, weekly bespoke CPD for staff as well as a two-week half term in October. You will be respected as a professional colleague and work with inspirational students every day.

We believe that every student should have the opportunity to be extraordinary through developing academic, physical and emotional confidence. This means having the courage to take risks and learn from their mistakes.  Success in education, as in sport, is the result of successive small failures followed by ever increasing challenges. As we tell our students; “Everything worth achieving is outside your comfort zone.”

Inclusion of all students is at the forefront of our work at King Henry School where we believe there should be no child left behind. The role of the SENCo is key to achieving this; the right candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside Trust staff as well as a dynamic and caring School Senior Leadership team to make long lasting improvements to the lives of vulnerable young people and their families. Our school development plan focusses on the attainment and experience of vulnerable groups, so your work will be valued and supported by all school stakeholders.

We are seeking to appoint a qualified teacher in the role of SENCo. It should be noted that this is a non-teaching position (though future opportunities for you to use your subject specialism to support the school may arise). We recognise the demands of the important role and are committed to giving you the time to fulfil it.

The school is located 15 minutes away from the Dartford Tunnel, M25 and Abbey Wood Crossrail and the A2 is 10 minutes away.

The position offers professional challenge and a rewarding opportunity supported by talented and dedicated colleagues. King Henry School is part of the new Odyssey Trust for Education with unprecedented collaborative support of Townley Grammar School to provide excellent professional development opportunities. With us, you can make a difference.

The school offers a full induction programme for all new members of staff with excellent professional development opportunities.

If you are interested in similar roles in SEND and inclusion at our other Trust School - Townley Grammar School, a large and Multi-cultural, selective girls schools in the Bexley. Your expression of interest is very welcome and can be submitted to headspa@townleygrammar.org.uk

The school is an equal opportunities employer and is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

The School operates a no smoking policy
