Compass Community School Essex is an independent secondary school for boys and girls Y7-Y11 in North Essex. Building relationships with our pupils is key to the therapeutic approach we take here at CCSE. Small pupil numbers, coupled with a high staff ratio, help to create a nurturing environment in which our students can thrive. Our highly trained and experienced education team work closely with parents, carers, multi-agency professionals, key workers and programme psychologists to holistically support our young people with a wide range of challenging behaviours and experiences. Together, we are able to help our pupils reach the best possible outcomes.

We have a keen focus on the core subjects, in particular, teaching our students how to apply these skills in real life contexts. Our curriculum is developmentally sequential, building on prior learning, with high expectations of progress. We enjoy a large site with a bespoke outdoor classroom and make the most of outdoor learning opportunities to deliver our broad and balanced curriculum. It is especially supportive for those pupils who are struggling to engage or lack confidence in themselves as learners. This creative and practical approach to subjects often breaks down barriers to learning, encouraging pupils to fully engage in their education.

At CCSE we value the whole child, concentrating on building up self-esteem and resilience whilst inspiring a love of learning so that when the time comes for our pupils to leave, they are fully equipped to take the next steps in their lives and flourish.
