 About the role

 • To provide strategic leadership of the provision for students with special educational needs (SEN) across the school in order to ensure that these students make excellent progress

 • To lead, manage and effectively deploy staff and resources within the SEN provision

 • To lead, monitor and evaluate the development of learning and teaching strategies for students with SEN 

• To ensure that staff are provided with relevant information and training relating to the support of these students 

• To lead on raising standards of student attainment and achievement with SEND students in all year groups and ability profiles

 • To ensure that paperwork relating to students with SEN meets statutory requirements 

• To maintain appropriate relationships with parents of students with SEN and with relevant external organisations

• To take a full role within the school community as a Senior Middle leader 

• Act within the statutory frameworks, which set out their professional duties and responsibilities and in line with the duties outlined in the current School Teachers Pay and Conditions Document and Teacher Standards (2012). 

• Take responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the school.  

Salary & Benefits 

• MPS 1 – 9 (£22,467 -  £38,250) dependent on experience plus SENA of £4,116 

• Access to Teachers/Local Government Pension Scheme.

• Qualified teacher status 

• Evidence of sustained participation in INSET/CPD 

• Demonstrable evidence of high standards of class teaching 

• Experience of co-ordinating and developing staff

 • Experience of managing teaching resources and a curriculum budget 

• Practical understanding of effective teaching and evaluation strategies 

• OFSTED awareness 

• Awareness of current developments in Education and the implications of these 

• Understanding of Health and Safety issues 

• Understanding of effective assessment and target setting procedures 

• Understanding of inclusion and personalised learning 

• Requirements for an effective inclusion statutory 

• Developing differentiated schemes of learning 

• Knowledge of effective target setting strategies 

• Effective strategies for supporting staff to improve teaching and learnin 

• Safeguarding

Our Academy 

Humberston is an 11-16 Academy with capacity for 750 students. The Academy specializes in Maths and Computing and the ability of students on entry is slightly above the national average. Over the past 3 years the Academy has seen a significant increase in performance in GCSE results year on year and is one of the highest performing Academies in the Authority.  Humberston Academy joined the Trust in 2011.  The last Oftsed reports say that; "Students make an outstanding contribution to their community.

 Another year of excellent results 2018.

A total of 84% of students at Humberston Academy achieved 4 to 9 in GCSE Maths this summer. In English, the figure was 88%. 82% of students achieved above grade 4 in the combine Maths and English measure. These results once again confirms our place among the top-performing schools in the area.

We are an outstanding Academy and proud of our exceptionally high standards. But it is not all about academic achievement.  We are a growing oversubscribed, hard-working Academy, with a positive, business-like and purposeful atmosphere where students can develop and broaden their horizons.
