Career Opportunity (M2-M6 or UPS1-3 + TLR2b)

Ambitious, forward-thinking, flexible and self-motivated?   If you can combine these attributes with excellent teaching skills and a genuine interest in supporting the growing special needs community within our school, now is the unique time to further your career and join our team.

The role of SENCo at CWS is an exciting one. Leading the largest department in the school, your role ensures that all students’ needs are being met through quality teaching, support and interventions. Working closely with your team and other professionals to follow the Code of Practise, you help enable all students to reach their full potential. In this growing department there will be management opportunities for developing this provision in terms of roles and new initiatives to enrich the lives of those students in our care.

With three year groups (Y7-9) currently on role, the commencement of GCSE courses along with the opening of the CWS Sixth Form in September 2021, there is scope to develop this role and department under your leadership. CWS is a school with a growing track record of rewarding outstanding performance amongst current staff via internal promotions. By becoming part of the team at Coombe Wood School, your career will benefit from joining a future-focused group of schools within Folio Education Trust, offering access to high calibre CPD, which contributes to the recognised quality of learning within our schools.

There is a strong team spirit, which has contributed to a supportive learning environment for both staff and students at Coombe Wood School. Our staff are ready to overcome unexpected challenges, break fresh ground, encourage collaboration and share excellent teaching skills within our hardworking and dedicated group.

Our SEN department

The SEN Department in September 2021 will comprise a team of 15 led by the SENCo. We aim to be proactive and reactive in supporting the needs of all students and meeting the individual requirements for those on the SEN register. We provide support in lessons and run interventions throughout the year. There is huge potential to introduce new initiatives over the coming years and to work closely with our feeder primary schools.
