We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, skilled and ambitious leader into the role of SENCO. Our new SENCO will be expected to strategically lead and manage the SEND Intervention Team, to promote inclusion and ensure high levels of progress and development of all students with SEND in line with the national curriculum, SEN Codes of Practice and school policies and procedures.
The ideal candidate will be an excellent teacher and a skilled leader with an excellent track record of raising standards. They will have the SENCO qualification (or be in the process of completing it this year), excellent leadership and management skills, the ability to work as part of a team, and a commitment to raising student achievement, encouraging students to meet their full potential. The post holder will be accountable for student progress and achievement for those with SEN and disabilities and will be expected to monitor, evaluate and support students to achieve their targets, whilst ensuring the necessary support is in place to meet their needs.
This appointment is of immense importance to us as a school, as it will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to contribute to our already successful school, in our bid to become Outstanding.

Applicants are required to be well-organised, inspirational in their teaching, and strong and confident in their leadership, with a passion for education and the support for learners to achieve their full potential. You will be able to work independently and in liaison with other colleagues in order to create a high level of challenge for a range of learners in every lesson and support the on-going development of this high-achieving department.
The SENCO will be responsible for reviewing and developing intervention strategies to support best practice in the classroom. The successful candidate will be someone who can inspire a team of LSAs and other professionals to make a positive difference to the lives of all students with SEND, providing them with the level of support and challenge that will see them achieve their full potential.

Stockport School has a rich history and tradition which dates back over 135 years. Stockport School first opened in 1888, before moving to the beautiful traditional school buildings on its present site on Mile End Lane in 1938. During those years, the school has played a crucial role in shaping the lives of thousands of Stockport boys and girls - teaching them academic and practical skills to prepare them for life’s journey.

Stockport School was judged by Ofsted in May 2018 as ‘Better than Good’ and then again most recently in December 2019. Ofsted commented that:
“Senior leaders, including governors, lead the school well.” The school is “well-run and oversubscribed” and “leaders have high expectations of their pupils”. “Leaders aim to provide a first-rate and all-round education. They want to set pupils up for life.”
“The headteacher’s and deputy headteachers’ actions are guided by pupils’ best interests. These leaders have also won the support of the staff. Teachers and other staff work well to do the best that they can for pupils.”
Stockport School has “…successfully brought about very rapid and sustainable improvement in students’ achievement and the quality of teaching.”
