Job overview

SEND Manager

NJC Grade 8

£25,178, (Actual Salary)

37 hours per week TT + 5

Bridlington School is seeking a dynamic and well organised individual to undertake a new role as SEND Manager (assisting the SENDCO). Inclusion is at the heart of everything we do and this role will play a vital part in meeting our aim to ensure all students achieve their full potential.

The Role

You will have your own caseload of EHCP students handling annual reviews, parent/carer meetings and liaising with external agencies. You will support the Teaching Assistants as a Line Manager in their performance review and CPD as well as providing guidance on best practice. As part of your administrative duties, you will also support the planning and implementation of the Teaching Assistant Timetable. You will also be involved in developing intervention strategies to meet the particular needs of students at Bridlington School, ensuring progress is tracked and monitored appropriately.

The Team

The SEN team in the main school is made up of Teaching Assistants who are allocated to faculties, enabling them to be fully converse with the curriculum area in which they support. This fosters a collaborative approach across the team as information is shared between TAs supporting the same students.

In addition to the Level 2 TAs we have Level 3 TAs and a HLTA supporting specific groups of students and administrative tasks such as Access Arrangements.

The SEND team is led by the SENDCO and Assistant Headteacher (Inclusion) who are passionate about driving the team and progress forward; you will have the opportunity to be involved in new initiatives and implement your own ideas.

The School

Bridlington School is a successful 11-18 maintained school with over 1,000 students on roll, a number which is rising year on year as our reputation as a centre of excellence grows within the local area. We have a small but thriving sixth form; the growth of this is an ambition for the school. Students are polite, respectful and keen to learn, 49% are entitled to free school meals, 25% are also on the SEN register predominantly due to difficulties with literacy and numeracy skills.

What we can offer You

It is an exciting time to join Bridlington School as we continue to strengthen relationships with other local Education providers including nearby Secondary Schools and Primary Feeders. This provides opportunity to be involved in transition and outreach work, but also connections with peers across the local area. As a member of the SEND team, you will also be able to network with the Local Authority SEND colleagues and stakeholders.

You will be involved in CPD throughout the year with regular scheduled events attended by all teaching and learning employees. You will also have access to a host of CPD via our subscriptions and East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
