Our school is part of the Ted Wragg Trust, an ambitious and inclusive Trust of schools whose mission is to transform lives and strengthen our communities to make the world a better place

To succeed we believe that we must grow great leaders, have the highest standards and be relentlessly positive in our collaboration. We live by the values of being ambitious, selfless and collaborative.

We are looking to appoint a SENDCo and Senior Leader from Easter 2023, or sooner if available. As SENDCo, you will be an inspiring and effective leader with the energy and creativity to motivate a growing team, (including a deputy SENDCo and trainee SENDCos), lead by example and challenge students to achieve the best possible outcomes.

This is an exciting post that will offer you the chance to work with a range of staff to meet the needs of those students who have been identified as requiring additional support in their learning. We need a colleague who is creative, able to plan and implement effective strategies to substantially improve the outcomes of some of our most vulnerable students. At West Exe, we believe every child should succeed and thus, we aim to accelerate the progress of all pupils with SEND.

We are committed to providing the very best environment for professional growth, believing that this is key to fostering an innovative, progressive and most importantly, kind atmosphere. Each member of the of the senior leadership team plays a part towards moving our vision forwards – ensuring that every child in our care succeeds. Regardless of your years of experience, if you are reflective in your approach and have a desire to continuously improve your practice, this is the school for you.

West Exe is a thriving, diverse and proud community. We are an 11-16 mixed comprehensive school of 970 students situated in the East of Exeter on a new, purpose-built site. We are a school with very high expectations of, and for, our students; only their best is good enough. We provide students with opportunities to shine through excellent teaching and innovative practice, a vibrant extra-curricular provision and a curriculum that challenges and inspires from the start of year 7 until the end of year 11. Our aim is for students to achieve excellent outcomes, move onto exciting post-16 activities and, most importantly, to gain a range of skills and experiences which enable them to be kind, happy and successful in the future.

If you are able to meet the requirements of this role, we would love to hear from you. For an informal conversation to find out more about the role, or to visit us at West Exe School please contact recruitment@westexe.devon.sch.uk
